We declared war on poverty some time ago and look at us today with this pitiful mess of hungry people without hope. I stopped at a hotel and in one that had only one family in residence and they were out waiting for a church van to deliver them food. I could not help but ask seeing a mother in distress with young children. The family was black and that seemed to separate them from the possibility more to be helped. The lady said they were hungry but they were not begging from me. I open my wallet and something said to me, give them each a 20 dollar bill. This left me only $10 to continue my journey, then the young boy about 8 years old came back to the car and said “my grandma wants to know if you would give my younger brother a dollar bill but if you like you can give him 10”, so I did, the young fellow had come running to hug me and thank me and the little girl did also.
How very happy I was to serve their needs. It is the very best way to spend your money.
